Watch the birdies! There are approximately 9 million words, 4,000 fully searchable pages (leading to thousands of other pages in the directories), plus thousands more through links within Wilson's Almanac. And at least 10,000 images on this site alone - so far.

You are cordially invited to help this unique project and see your 'brick' on the Wall of Divine Almaniacs    Australian Slang    (Note: If the tiny little black birds flying, just below, are a nuisance, a spray of Mortein should help.)

Navigate and search any of 9 easy ways:

  1) Explore our big SiteMap. Thank you very much.

  2) Each page has a navigation menu at top

 3)  Google Wilson's Almanac or Wilson's Blogmanac

4) Search the Book of Days. Indexed several times a week. Even Jezza could grasp it, I thimk. Poor, sad Jezza. Just watch the birdies, mate.
    This searches 400+ BoD pages and more than six million words (much more than 15,000 words for each day of the year, on average).

Having problems? To help you refine your search,
please note that Wilson's Almanac has four main departments:
Scriptorium (articles, editorials, poetry, info, entertainment; the SiteMap will guide you);
Book of Days
(calendar customs; historical oddities; folklore; alternative history);
Blogmanac (a team from three continents posting several times daily);
Free daily ezine (wonders with your morning coffee; subscription box is at foot of this page).

Search tips: Sometimes it is better to check All Words, when Exact Phrase fails. For example, in Exact Phrase, 'Marie Curie' will not result on a page that has 'Marie and Pierre Curie announced the isolation of radium', although 'Pierre Curie' will of course. In such a case, try All Words as well, or be creative and try something like 'Curie' alone, 'Curie radium' or even 'Marie radium'. Most failures are due to this, or to misspelling (if you attended school after 1975, my condolences). Similarly, 'John F Kennedy' will often not be on pages that have 'JF Kennedy', 'John Fitzgerald Kennedy', etc. You will do best if you are creative with your searches, try several alternatives, and check the dictionary if unsure of spelling. If you've tried all options but are really stuck, report problems and I will try to help. Note, too, that saints' names are usually abbreviated thus: St John, not Saint John; Ss Peter and Paul, not Saints Peter  and Paul.

Lousy search (my reports tell me this kind happens a lot): "What happened on February 22, 1963?" (Use the Book of Days Index instead). Good luck!

Wikipedia and David Brown's prodigious Daily Bleed are both excellent resources that aid my research.
