Why?

Grass is green,
I wonder why.
And blue is the colour
of the sky.

Why?

Fishes swim,
I wonder why.
Yet people walk
a
nd birds fly.

Why?

Seas are wide,
I wonder why.
But snakes are long
and trees high.

Why?

I'm sorry that I chopped you
into pieces, little worm,
today when I was digging
in the garden in the yard:
I guess I pushed the spade into
the soil a bit too hard.

I was only trying to plant
a daisy in the ground.
In future I’ll make sure
against such things to keep my guard
whenever I am digging
in the garden in the yard.

This dragon's not as smart as me

This dragon that you see
is not as smart as me,
for though this dragon rules the land,
and people bow at his command,
and though he never could be hurt,
and though he eats men for dessert,
this dragon’s not as smart as me,
for he can’t count from one to three.

Seven birds

Seven birds that soar above
with movements fine and regal:
sparrow, swallow, starling, swan,
stork, swift and sea eagle.
